Digital photography school teaches you everything you need about being a Professional Digital Photographer. They teach you, also, the right equipment to use for the right conditions. Another subject they will teach you about is how to set up your photo exhibits. They will cover every aspect on how to present and sell your photo art.
Choosing the right theme is easier than you think. What do you take pictures of the most? Do you take nature shots, portraits, news events, still photography or animal life? Setting up a theme to match your photos is easy; just choose a place or surroundings that relate to your subject. If you use a gallery, or museum, they usually have several rooms already set up for special themes.
If this is your first exhibit, you will want to choose a small area and display to start with. Whether you have chosen a private hall, mall, museum, or gallery, follow any rules they have as far as hanging and displaying your photos. The venue you choose should be large enough to easily display your work, comfortable and in a location that will draw people.
Contacting sponsors is very important. . Museum owners, gallery owners, mall directors and photography studios may be the best people to contact. This also allows them to take advantage of your showing, by having people visiting their establishment, and maybe browsing what they have also. If you took photography classes in San Francisco, check with administration for a list of known sponsors.
Getting the right supplies, well before the exhibit opens is very important. You don’t people to start showing up while you are still setting up. You will need frames, printed invitations, printed programs and labels and descriptions of your photos. Look for a company or professional photographer’s studio that supplies these items at wholesale prices. It may be wise over order on the first exhibit, to get a feel for what you need next time.
Promotion and marketing go hand in hand with any kind of event. If the public is not aware of the event, they cannot be expected to attend. Your sponsor may help with advertising and marketing, since your exhibit is also going to draw potential clients to them. They may even have a list of important people to invite.
Photography schools and photography universities will teach you everything about being a professional photographer. They will also teach you all the skills you need to promote and exhibit your work.
