Being classed as an organ, our skin performs many functions. Not only does it keep infections and disease from entering the body, it assists the main organs of elimination (liver, intestines and kidneys) to flush out waste. If you have sensitive skin, it will react quickly to both heat and cold, and it will also be prone to allergic reactions. Temperature changes, certain detergents and cosmetics can all cause irritation, leaving the skin red and inflamed.
