There might be a wedding or there might be just a simple party. With that in mind, you might have to book a band. If you don’t know how to do that, relax, we’ll give you a few pointers. When you do this, you will find that having a live band sure beats just playing music from a CD or hiring a DJ.
The first step is to figure out your budget. Some bands have already set prices, so you won’t have much of an option of how much you spend. Others charge by the hour, and some even make a deal with you on how much you’ll pay them. So, you see, there is some leniency in some of the routes you go with. Making a budget is not the difficult part. It’s staying within the budget that can make it tricky.
The next step is to choose on what kind of music. Do you like slow, romantic love songs, like you find in many country music albums? Or do you like upbeat, hyper, get-everyone-dancing music, such as pop or rock? You want to please every one, especially if it’s for a wedding due to children and different tastes.
The third step is choosing location. Find a big space, a space with good acoustics and is spacious so bot your band and your audience don’t feel crowded. Choosing a location may also limit to what bands you can choose from, because some bands may only perform in certain areas. It might even hinder your price a bit too, because it may include gas.
To go with that, you need to have a date in time. When you have a date far enough in advance, you can then start calling around and choosing the band of your choice. You need to give them enough time in advance to mark it on their calendar. That is why they will tell you that it’s appropriate to have called them and booked them two to three months prior to the event.
Now, you can go about choosing your band. There are many out there so don’t worry about not being able to find one. If you give yourself enough time, you can do the calling around and what not. There are websites that are designed to give you ideas of local bands. Friends are another great choice to helping you with this.
When you find the band that you want to book, you might have to put a certain amount down in order to reserve the date and time. Then, the rest of the rest money that would be due would be expected either before the event or on the day. Each band is different so make sure that you ask.
Don’t fret about finding a band for that party or wedding. It’s fast and easy to do. Booking a band is easier than learning to sing or play an instrument, and it brings life to the event. There is just something about having a live band that draws people in. It makes it seem more professional. It makes the event the event of a lifetime.
